Scarlet Hawks Competed at Benedictine (Ill.) Final Tune-Up

RESULTS

LISLE, ILL.—The Illinois Institute of Technology men's track & field team embarked on the Benedictine (Ill.) Final Tune-Up Meet on Friday. The Scarlet Hawks's 44 team points secured them 6th place out of 12 teams. NCAA Division II Lewis University claimed the Benedictine Eagle Final Tune-Up Title with 233 points.

The 4x400 meter relay squad of Evan Balizado, Jacob Gagner, Robert Mathis and Thomas Doyle notched a first-place time of 3:37.91. Doyle kept the first-place trend going in the 1500 meter run with a time of 4:12.14. Balizado also kept that momentum going in the 800 meter run, where he crossed the finish line at 2:03.13 en route to 10th place out of 30 finishers. The 10th place trend kept going courtesy of Austin Worley, who tallied 56.57 in the 400 meter dash. 

Lucas Taylor highlighted the Scarlet Hawks field athletes with a second-place toss of 39.09m in the hammer, and a fourth-place mark of 36.64m in the discus. Alexander Dhom was lethal in the long jump with a ninth-place leap of 5.67m.

The Scarlet Hawks will compete in the 2021 NACC Outdoor Track & Field Championship on Friday, May 7 - Saturday, May 8 at Wisconsin Lutheran College.
