WAUKESHA, WIS.—Illinois Institute of Technology men's volleyball junior right side Andriy Bench landed March 10 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) Men's Volleyball Student-Athlete of the Week on Tuesday. He is the first Illinois Tech men's volleyball athlete to earn the honor in 2020.
Bench, a Chicago native, registered 4.43 kills per set and a .250 hitting percentage for the Scarlet Hawks over their two-game week that included a 3-0 loss to Concordia Chicago on March 3, and a 3-1 victory over St. Norbert College on March 7. He tallied a career-high 21 kills along with three service aces and a .279 hitting mark at St. Norbert after he contributed 10 kills against Concordia Chicago. Bench accumulated 31 kills over the two games, and added a pair of assisted blocks in each contest.
Bench paces the Scarlet Hawks with 2.88 kills per set and 118 total kills over 13 matches in 2020.
Illinois Tech will travel to Trinity Christian College on Friday, March 13 at 7:00 p.m.
