Sabres Cruise Past Scarlet Hawks 3-0

CHICAGO—The Illinois Institute of Technology men's volleyball team hosted Marian University (Wis.) on the front end of a two-game home stand at the Keating Sports Center on Tuesday. The Scarlet Hawks had the upper hand in kills 34-33, but their 28 attack errors doomed them in a 3-0 (25-14, 25-19, 25-18) loss to the Sabres.

Illinois Tech exits Tuesday with a 3-6, 3-6 NACC record while the Sabres snap a two-game losing skid and improve to 8-2, 7-2 NACC.

Marian (Wis.) 3, Scarlet Hawks 0

The Sabres minimized their errors throughout the entire match as they committed just eight on the attack en route to a .338 hitting percentage against Illinois Tech's .059 mark. Grant Couper paced the Scarlet Hawks with 10 kills, while Andriy Bench followed with seven and a team-leading nine digs. Jackson Van Engen registered a trio of blocks for Illinois Tech.

Lucas Guanes set up the Scarlet Hawks offense with 31 assists. 

Isaiahs Mena was lethal for the Sabres with 11 kills on a .435 hitting mark, followed by Derek Wills' 10 kills and a team-leading 10 digs. 

Illinois Tech had the upper hand in digs with 31 against Marian's 27. 

The Scarlet Hawks will host Lakeland University in their final home match of 2021 on Tuesday, March 30 at 7:00 p.m.
