Men's Volleyball Outlasts St. Norbert 3-1

Chicago, Ill. - The Illinois Tech men's volleyball team found themselves in a battle against St. Norbert College Friday night at the Keating Sports Center, before ultimately staving off the Green Knights 3-1. The Scarlet Hawks improved to 9-10 overall (4-3 NACC). The Green Knights fell to 6-10 overall (2-6 NACC).

With the score tied at 3-3 in set one, the Hawks went on a 10-0 run to take over the set, eventually closing it out 25-15.

Trailing 9-8 in set two, the Hawks completed a 4-0 run to take a 12-9 lead. The Hawks pushed to a four-point lead at 19-15 before the Green Knights found their footing, winning 10 of the final 14 points in the set for the 25-23 decision.

In set three, the largest lead prior to the finish was 7-4 by St. Norbert, as the teams traded points until they were even at 20-20. The Hawks took five of the final seven points to seal set three 25-22.

The Hawks never trailed in set four, jumping out to a 17-10 lead before winning the final set 25-18.

  • Michal Markevych paced the Hawks with 14 kills.
  • Jackson Van Engen was credited with seven kills and a .375 attack percentage.
  • Lucas Guanes had 38 assists, 13 digs and four blocks.
  • Jack Bovone had 16 digs in the contest.
  • The Green Knights had three players with 11 kills each: Jackson Corcoran, Josh Hauke(also four service aces) and Owen Knezevich; Eddie Pacula (16 assists), and Jake Krueger (19 digs).
