2019 Cross Country Season Review

CHICAGO—The Illinois Institute of Technology cross country teams took steps forward in 2019, which marked their second season as an NCAA Division III member of the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference.

Benchmarks

The men clocked-in a fourth-place score of 125 at the 2019 NACC Championship in West Allis, Wisconsin on November 2, an improvement from their sixth-place mark of 129 in 2018. Julian Go commanded the Scarlet Hawks on the 2019 All-NACC Men's Cross Country Team with a 15th-place time of 28:55.7 at the NACC Championship. 

The women endured leaps and bounds in 2019 and Erin Nelson played a significant role. Nelson narrowly missed the All-NACC benchmark in 16th place with a 27:21.6 at the 2019 NACC Championship, a significant jump from her 45th-place standing in 2018. Individually, Scarlet Hawks women claimed anywhere between 16th and 85th place in 2019, compared to 45th and 98th place in 2018.

Regional Success

Louis Ketchman paced the Scarlet Hawks men in 110th place with a 27:11.9 at the 2019 NCAA Division III Midwest Regional on November 16, leading his team to a 24th-place score of 708 points in winter-like conditions at the Lake Breeze Golf Club in Winneconne, Wisconsin. 

Erin Nelson continued her dominate ways for the Scarlet Hawks women at regionals with a team-best 26:20.5, good enough for 178th place.
