Hauert Shines in Loss to Aurora

CHICAGO, Ill. – The Illinois Tech women's basketball team played host to the Aurora University on Tuesday evening for a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) contest. Despite the first double digit scoring game and double-double of Alyssa Hauert's collegiate career, the Scarlet Hawks (0-7, 0-3 NACC) fell to the Spartans (1-5, 1-1 NACC) 89-37.

How it Happened

  • Aurora blitzed the Scarlet Hawks in the first quarter with a tough press and a barrage of three-point shooting. When the dust settled after 10 minutes, the Scarlet Hawks trailed 32-6.
  • In the second quarter, the Scarlet Hawks were able to slow the pace down and find its offense. Running things through Hauert in the high post, Tech played its best quarter of the season, outscoring Aurora 16-10 while shooting 7-of-12 (58.3%) over the 10 minutes. Both Hauert and Shannon O'Donnell scored six points each in the frame, while the team head AU to without a three-point field goal after making five of them in the first.
  • The tone shifted in the third, with Aurora finding its offense again. AU's Alyssa Brems made all five of her field goal attempts and scored 13 points in the quarter.
  • In the fourth, Hauert was able to complete her double-double, recording four points, seven rebounds, two steals, and a blocked shot while playing all 10 minutes.

Scarlet Hawk Standouts

  • Hauert tallied 12 points, 11 rebounds, three blocks, and two steals, all of which led the Scarlet Hawks. She also shot 6-of-9 from the field.
  • O'Donnell recorded 10 points, her second straight double digit scoring output and fourth overall.
