Eagles Too Much For Scarlet Hawks

CHICAGO, ILL.—The Illinois Institute of Technology women's basketball team opened Northern Athletic Collegiate Conference play on Wednesday when they welcomed Benedictine University to the Keating Sports Center. The Scarlet Hawks, who outscored the Eagles 24-14 in the fourth quarter, couldn't match up during the opening three quarters as they dropped a 102-49 decision.

IIT drops to 0-3, 0-1 NACC while Benedictine ups their record to 2-1, 1-0 NACC.

The Scarlet Hawks nearly matched their scoring total of 25 from the first three quarters with 24 in the fourth quarter. Erin Efimoff paced the IIT scorers with 14 points on 5-of-9 shooting. Selvamithra Ravichandran commanded all players on the boards with nine rebounds to go along with seven points and a pair of assists. Benedictine's Allison Michalsski sank 31 points on 12-of-18 shooting along with six offensive rebounds and a trio of steals. Hanna Piro followed with 16 points (7-of-11 shooting) and a game-high seven assists. Britney Patzer rounded out the double-figure scorers with 11 points for Benedictine. 

The Scarlet Hawks will return to competition on Tuesday, November 26 at Alverno College for a 7:00 p.m. tip-off.
