Women's Basketball Falls to Adrian

Adrian, Mich. - In the second road contest of the 2022-23 season, the Illinois Tech women's basketball team took on the Adrian College Bulldogs. The non-conference road contest saw the Scarlet Hawks fall by a final score of 91-54. 

How it Happened

  • The Bulldogs went up 6-0 before the Hawks were able to get on the board to start the game. The Hawks first basket came in the form of a 3-pointer by Deriniece Moton. After a slow start between the two sides, action started to pick up with 4:07 remaining, as the Bulldogs led the Hawks 19-9. Camden Joko drained a 3-pointer to cut the lead but the Bulldogs quickly answered with a layup. Grace Goodnough closed out the quarter with a free throw as the Hawks trailed the Bulldogs 30-16. 

  • In the second quarter, the first basket came at 8:18 with a 3-pointer by the Bulldogs. The Bulldogs were able to keep control of their lead through the whole quarter to head into halftime leading the Hawks 52-27.

  • Third quarter action was slow between the two sides as the quarter went 10-8 in favor of the Bulldogs. 

  • Action picked back up in the fourth quarter. Although the Hawks were able to hit some baskets, the Bulldogs lead proved to be too much as the Hawks fell by a final score of 91-54. 

Scarlet Hawk Standouts

  • Joko led the Hawks with 12 points and 3 steals. She picked up 3 rebounds and 1 assist as well. 

  • Moton followed with 12 points. She tied for the lead in steals, recording 6. Moton tallied 1 steal. 

  • Kaya Jones added 8 points. She tied Moton with 6 steals. Jones finished with 3 assists and had the Hawks only block of the night.

Inside the Box Score

  • Illinois Tech finished 18-of-59 from the field, 8-of-23 from three, and 10-of-14 free throws. Adrian finished 37-of-75, 7-of-13, and 10-of-12 respectively. 

  • The Bulldogs outrebounded the Hawks 40-27. 

  • The Hawks picked up 17 fastbreak points.
