HOLLAND, Mich - The Illinois Tech women's lacrosse team traveled to Michigan on Tuesday evening to oppose the Flying Dutch of Hope College. The Scarlet Hawks were defeated 16-5, falling to 1-2 on the season.

How it Happened

• After two Dutch goals to start the action, the Scarlet Hawks scored courtsey of Shanie Scoles with 22:49 left in the half to bring the score to 2-1.
• Hope responded with its largest run of the day, rattling off nine straight tallies to build an 11-1 lead with just over four minutes to play in the half.
• Alyssa DeLuca was able to put the Scarlet Hawks on the board once again with 2:39 left in the first half. Hope scored once more to take a 12-2 lead into intermission.
• The Flying Dutch scored the first three goals of the second half before Scoles scored on a free position shot. Another DeLuca goal just over two minutes later made the score 15-4 in favor of Hope with 15:47 left in the match.
• Hope scored once more, but Mallory Tognetti found DeLuca with 2:18 left to play to round out the scoring.

Scarlet Hawk Standouts

• DeLuca tallied a hat trick, her first of the season.
• Scoles had her second multi-goal game to go along with team-highs in draw controls (seven) and caused turnovers (two).
• Tognetti tallied an assist and three draw controls.

• Hope's 16-of-17 clears helped the hosts to control the match.
• The Scarlet Hawks improved on draw controls, playing a strong Hope team nearly even in the category (Hope 12, Tech 11).
