Scarlet Hawks Fall to Cardinals in Season Opener

CHICAGO—The Illinois Institute of Technology women's lacrosse team welcomed Concordia University Ann Arbor to Stuart Field for their 2020 season opener on Wednesday. The Scarlet Hawks managed a pair of man-up goals from Shanie Scoles, but couldn't find the scoresheet much more in a 21-4 setback to the Cardinals.

Concordia Ann Arbor improves to 3-1 while Illinois Tech begins the season 0-1.

Scoles finished the contest with three goals for the Scarlet Hawks, along with a game-high seven shots. Audrey Shaw registered the other goal for Illinois Tech. Mallory Tognetti and Faith Busche each contributed an assist for the Scarlet Hawks. Scoles also paced her team with five draw controls, while Shaw followed with four. Illinois Tech won 12 draw controls as a team, compared to Concordia Ann Arbor's 13. 

Madisyn Fox and Mariana Miller each registered four goals for Concordia Ann Arbor, while Jennifer Miller led the way with six draw controls. 

Elizabeth Zia made 13 saves over 42:25 of action in net for Illinois Tech, while Jessica Cochis stopped three shots over 17:35. Amanda Archer tallied four saves in a complete-game win in net for Concordia Ann Arbor.

The Scarlet Hawks will host Monmouth (Ill.) on Saturday, March 7 at 11:00 a.m.
