Cougars Too Much For Scarlet Hawks

CHICAGO—The Illinois Institute of Technology women's lacrosse team's first home game of 2021 pitted them against Concordia Chicago at Stuart Field on Tuesday. The Scarlet Hawks struck first with Audrey Shaw's goal, but couldn't keep that momentum going in a 20-5 loss to Concordia Chicago.

The Scarlet Hawks fall to 0-2, 0-2 NACC while the Cougars stay undefeated at 10-0, 4-0 NACC.

Concordia Chicago 20, Illinois Tech 5

Audrey Shaw and Shanie Scoles each registered a pair of goals for the Scarlet Hawks, while Alison Yurchak contributed one. Scoles paced Illinois Tech with seven shots and four draw controls.

Caitlin Davitt tallied 12 saves in the complete-game effort for Illinois Tech, while her counterpart Ryan McGee registered four saves in the victory. Emily Cyrwus erupted for eight goals and one assist for Concordia Chicago, while Rylee Orenstein added six goals and two assists. 

The Cougars outshot Illinois Tech 34-12.  

The Scarlet Hawks will face first-year program Edgewood College on Saturday, April 17 in Madison, Wisconsin at 12:00 p.m.
