Fond du Lac, Wis. - Despite scoring five unanswered goals in the final quarter, the Illinois Tech Women's Lacrosse team could not overcome a 10-4 deficit, ultimately falling to host Marian University 10-9 in a Saturday morning NACC matchup. The loss dropped the Scarlet Hawks to 0-3 in conference play and to 1-7 overall. The Sabres earned their first victory of the season, and are now 1-2 in conference play and 1-10 overall.

The Scarlet Hawks entered the fourth quarter trailing 9-4 when Marian's Nicole Stachon scored her fourth goal of the match at the 11:49 mark to push the Sabres lead to 10-4. From there, the Hawks mounted a furious rally.

Brooke Rowan scored an unassisted tally at the 11:19 mark of the fourth quarter to cut the Scarlet Hawks deficit to 10-5. Rowan again tallied at 6:31 on a feed from Faith Busche to pull the Hawks within four at 10-6. Catherine Klemp found the back of the net at 4:07, her first of the season, bringing the Hawks within three at 10-7. Rowan scored her third of the match and third of the quarter less than a minute later on a free position shot, and the Hawks deficit was down to two.

With a 1:20 remaining in the fourth quarter, Ella DeCurtis scored her fifth goal of the season to bring the Hawks within one goal at 10-9. After Grace Reckamp recovered a ground ball for the Hawks with 25 seconds remaining, the Hawks called a timeout. On the ensuing possession, the Hawks were able to make a successful clear into the Sabres zone, but a turnover denied the Hawks a final chance to score the equalizing goal and complete the comeback.
