OVERLAND PARK, Kan.- The Illinois Institute of Technology women's soccer team is well-represented on this season's All-Independent teams from the Association of Division III Independents. Kristen Barrett, Roxanne Myers, Ade Maron, Katherine Nishimoto, and Olivia Kochanek have all been honored by AD3I.
A team captian, Barrett earns First Team honors as well as Co-Defensive Player of the Year. A versatile center back for the Scarlet Hawks, the senior tallied eight goals and four assists. Both of those totals ranked in the Top 10 of AD3I despite Barrett serving predominantly as a defensive player. She also led a Tech back line that allowed just 0.96 goals per match, good for second among AD3I teams. Barrett was also named Second Team All-American by the USCAA two weeks ago.
Myers has been named to the First Team as well as Co-Goalkeeper of the Year. Another senior captain, Myers recorded an impressive .871 save percentage (first in AD3I), 1.02 goals allowed average (second in AD3I), six shutouts (second in AD3I), and 115 saves (third in AD3I). The honor for Myers comes in addition to being named First Team All-American by the USCAA.
Maron, who was named USCAA All-American Honorable Mention as well, earns All-Independent First Team honors after a banner year offensivley. The midfielder led Tech in most offensive categories, including goals (14, tied for second in AD3I), assists (four, tied for seventh in AD3I), points (32, tied for second in AD3I), shots (90, first in AD3I), and shots on goal (52, first in AD3I). The senior captain also tallied two hat tricks on the year, including a five-goal output against Rockford University on October 14.
Nishimoto also earns First Team honors after serving as a key cog in Tech's defense. A center back, the freshman served on Tech's strong back line, displaying strong leadership while also recording one goal and one assist.
Kochanek is Tech's second freshman to earn AD3I honors, garnering a Second Team selection. The Streamwood, Illinois product served on Tech's back line and showed great versatility, recording one goal and three assists.
