Women's Soccer Defeats Marian 3-0

Fond du Lac, WI - The Illinois Tech Scarlet Hawk women's soccer team improved their record to 9-2-1 overall and 4-1-1 in Northern Athletic Collegiate Conference (NACC) play on Saturday with a 3-0 victory over the Marian University Sabres. 

How It Happened

  • Lisa Rios got the action going for the Hawks in the 27th minutes with an unassisted goal. Rios capitalized off an initial Sabres save to put the Hawks up 1-0.

  • Clàudia Martí Fanlo found the back of the net 10 minutes later to put the Hawks up 2-0. Off a rolling ball inside the 18-yard box, Fanlo was able to beat her defender to the ball and send a one-touch strike into the opposite side netting and past the diving goalkeeper. 

  • In the 74th minute, Lucy Vanveldhuisen netted the final goal of the match off a Lisa Rios assist. Lisa Rios sent a high cross across the 18-yard box and straight in front of the goal to Vanveldhuisen who headed the ball into the net. 

Scarlet Hawk Standouts

  • Lisa Rios, Fanlo, and Vanveldhuisen were the goalscorers for the night. Lisa Rios also picked up an assist. 

  • Sarah Thomas and Hailey Flannagan shared time in goal for the Hawks. Only one save was made during the contest.

  • 14 Hawks took a shot between the 90 minutes of play.

  • The Hawks recorded 30 shots while holding the Sabres to one. 

  • Illinois Tech took 8 corner kicks compared to the Sabres none. 

  • 11 fouls were committed by the Hawks to the Sabres 5.
