Four Honored By NACC in Postseason Awards

Milwaukee, Wis. - Four members of the Illinois Tech Women’s Soccer program were honored as members of the 2019 All-NACC team. Senior Madison Harris and Sophomore Jamie Griggs earned First Team honors, while Freshman Alexis Williamson earned a spot on the second team and Junior Elena Esparcia Cañada was placed on Honorable Mention. "It's great when our student athletes are recognized for their play throughout the season” Said Head Coach Roshne Ellison. “All 4 players were instrumental to the team success and very deserving of their All-NACC accolades.”

Madison Harris, a Senior from Franklin, Wisconsin was named First Team All-NACC fo the second consecutive season. Harris was a staple in the back for the Hawks as a starter in all 22 games this year. She also chipped in with a goal and 4 assists on the offensive end of the field, both career highs.

Jamie Griggs, a Sophomore from Lancaster, California followed up her Freshman of the year season in 2018 with her second nod to the First Team. Griggs led the way offensively for the Scarlet Hawks leading the team in goals (19) and points (42) ranking 4th in the NACC in both categories. Griggs was a mainstay starting 21 games and also tacking on 4 assists for the season.

Alexis Williamson, a Freshman from Placentia California earns All-Conference honors in her first year with the Scarlet Hawks. Williamson stated 19 games for Tech and scored her first goal in a 4-2 win at Marian University. 

Elena Esparcia Cañada, a Junior from Valencia Spain had an impactful season in her first year at Illinois Tech. Cañada contributed 3 goals and 4 assists on the season out of the midfield while starting 15 games. 

The Hawks ended the season with a 13-7-2 overall record and a 9-1-2 record in the NACC to earn the 3rd seed and a home game for the conference tournament before advancing to the conference semifinals.
