DECORAH, Iowa – On Tuesday, the Liberal Arts Conference announced its 2018 All-Conference teams, with the top three swimmers from each of this weekend's events earning the distinction. The Scarlet Hawks had four earn the honor: Brigitte Temple, Kristin Wills, Katherine Lydon, Briana Tyler, and Delaney Shepherd.
Temple, a senior, impressed in her final collegiate meet, as she placed in the top three in six total events. She helped earn second place as part of the 800 Yard Freestyle Relay with a time of 8:05.84 as well as third as part of the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay with a time of 4:04.11. During the 400 Yard Individual Medley, Temple recorded a time of 4:42.06 while taking third place. She swam the 100 Yard Breaststroke with a 1:07.25 time (second place) and won the 200 Yard Breaststroke with a time of 2:24.22. Finally, Temple also helped placed third with a time of 1:51.42 in the 200 Yard Medley Relay.
Wills, a junior, put forth one of her best efforts of her career this past weekend. She also participated in the 800 Yard Freestyle Relay (8:05.84), the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay (4:04.11) and the 200 Yard Medley Relay (1:51.42) and helped propel her relay teams to the strong finishes.
Building off last year's All-LAC meet, Lydon once again earns the honor. The sophomore was also a part of the strong 800 Yard Freestyle Relay plus the 200 and 400 Yard Medley Relays with Temple and Wills—contributing to the second, third and third place finishes in those events respectively.
Also swimming in her last collegiate meet as a senior, Tyler also finished with the All-Conference honor after joining the Scarlet Hawks 200 and 400 Yard Medley Relay teams with Lydon, Temple and Wills.
Shepherd, a junior, earned the All-Conference honor after playing a key role in the 800 Yard Freestyle Relay with Lydon, Temple and Wills.
The 200 Yard Medley Relay with Wills, Temple, Tyler, and Lydon that combined for a time of 1:49.67 and finished third was an Illinois Tech school record.
The Scarlet Hawks earned fourth place at this year's championships with 425 points, trailing third-place Luther by just two and second-place Coe by just five.
