CHICAGO—The Illinois Institute of Technology women's swimming & diving team hosted Carroll University (Wis.) at the Ekco Pool on Saturday afternoon. The Scarlet Hawks dropped a 127-70 decision to the Pioneers despite impressive finishes.

"We saw some great swimming this weekend from a tired group of student-athletes," said IIT head men's and women's swimming & diving coach Andy Parro. "Their performance is promising as we look ahead to the Liberal Arts Championship in three weeks. I'm looking forward to honoring our seniors next week in our final regular season meet."

Among the impressive Scarlet Hawks finishes was the 200 yard breaststroke, led by Anna Slominski's first-place time of 2:27.71. Christina Hiotaky followed Slominski in second place with a career-best 2:45.90. The 200 yard freestyle saw Katherine Lydon take first place with a 2:01.53. Lydon added to her first-place resume with a 5:30.37 in the 500 yard freestyle. Slominski added another first-place time in the 200 yard individual medley (2:16.55).

Megan Burrill continued her dominating ways with a first-place time of 2:13.12 in the 200 yard butterfly.

Claudia Flores added a third-place time of 2:30.01 in the 200 yard backstroke, and accomplished that same standing in the 1000 yard freestyle (12:05.09).

The Scarlet Hawks will return to action on Saturday, January 25 when they host Lake Forest College at the Ekco Pool. Start time is set for 1:00 p.m.
