Katherine Lydon Named January Liberal Arts Conference Performer of the Month

CHICAGO—Illinois Institute of Technology women's swimming & diving senior Katherine Lydon was named January Liberal Arts Conference Female Performer of the Month on Friday. Lydon's honor now gives IIT two LAC Performer of the Month awards this season. Seth Wissenbach earned the distinction for the men after a stellar November.

January LAC Performers of the Month

Female: Katherine Lydon (Swimming), Olivia Lacher (Minnesota-Morris, Diving)

Male: Soren Gloege (Luther, Swimming), Sam Ferrell (Principia, Diving)

Lydon, a native of Columbia, Missouri, kicked-off the month with a first-place time of 1:56.01 in the 200 yard freestyle relay followed by a 56.61 in the 100 yard freestyle in IIT's 105-34 win over North Central College (Ill.) on January 11. She added a pair of first-place finishes in the Scarlet Hawks' 127-70 loss to Carroll (Wis.) on January 18 when she clocked-in a 2:01.53 in the 200 yard freestyle, and a 5:30.37 in the 500 yard freestyle.

The first-place trend continued for Lydon in Illinois Tech's 112-69 loss to Lake Forest on January 25 when she achieved a 18:46.06 in the 1650 freestyle relay, and a 1:44.61 in the 200 yard freestyle relay.

Lydon and the Scarlet Hawks will compete at the Liberal Arts Championship in Elsah, Illinois on Wednesday, February 12 - Saturday, February 15.
