Scarlet Hawks Take a Positive Step at Snow Day Invitational

RESULTS

NAPERVILLE, ILL.—The third indoor meet of 2020 pitted the Illinois Institute of Technology women's track & field squad at North Central College (Ill.) for the second-straight week on Friday when they competed at the Snow Day Invitational. The Scarlet Hawks registered a seventh-place score of 20 points, while host North Central (Ill.) claimed the team title with 227 points.

"I thought we competed well and had another solid showing overall as a team," said head men's and women's track & field coach Tyler McQuality. "I think the training after three weeks is starting to make our legs a little heavy but that's the time of the year we're in. We saw a lot of positive things tonight and look forward to the weeks to come to work on things we need to."

It continued to be all Mminika Effiong as she accounted for many of IIT's points. Effiong registered a career-best leap of 4.90m in the long jump, good enough for second place. She joined Krevitz, Masha Staub and Schulz in the 4x400 meter relay, where they notched a seventh-place time of 4:56.75. Masha Staub, Schulz, Zoey Krevitz and Madalyn Urig notched a second-place time of 16:58.97 in the distance medley relay.

The Scarlet Hawks will compete in the Olivet Nazarene Invite on Saturday, February 1 at 10:00 a.m.
