Tami Engelman joins the Illinois Tech Track and Field coaching staff prior to the 2016 season. She will primarily work with the throwers of both the men’s and women’s teams.

Engelman is no stranger to Track and Field from both an athletic and coaching standpoint. As a student-athlete and team captain at Western Illinois University, Engelman was an indoor weight throw national qualifier in 2003 and a nine-time Mid-Continent medal winner in throwing events. As a coach, she served as an assistant at Streamwood High School for over four years, heading the team’s strength and conditioning program, technically advising the athletes, promoting a team environment, and assisted in coordinating meets.

Since 2009, Engelman has been a very active member of the women’s semi-professional tackle football community. She has been a member of the Chicago Force for seven years, also serving as the team’s Recruitment Coordinator since August of 2013. She also was a member of the USA’s World Championship National Women’s Tackle Football Team in 2013. In addition, she has been a USBC Member and league bowler since 2004.

Engelman has been around fitness since her graduation at Western Illinois in 2004, serving as the Fitness Director at Brookdale Senior Living for two years before serving as a Program Coordinator at Health Fitness Corporation. She still works at Health Fintness Corporation today as Program Manager.

Engelman holds certifications as an ACE Personal Trainer, with AED, CPR and First Aid, and with the IHSA. She currently resides in Chicago and holds a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from Western Illinois and a Masters of Science in Project Management from Lewis University. She is also pursuing a Masters of Art in Sports Leadership from Concordia University Chicago.
