2019 Women's Volleyball Season Review

CHICAGO—The Illinois Institute of Technology women's volleyball team's (7-21, 3-9 NACC) 2019 campaign was highlighted by improvements and record book marks. The Scarlet Hawks, who wrapped up their second season as a full NCAA Division III member, increased their overall and NACC win total from their first season and found themselves among the top three teams in the conference in multiple statistical categories.

**NACC Regular Season Tie for Ninth Place**

Statistically Speaking

The Scarlet Hawks finished the season with 18.10 digs per set and 37.59 attacks per set, which each ranked second in the NACC. Their 3,985 total attacks and 1,919 total digs came in at No. 3 among NACC programs. Junior Sinjin Acuna played a large role in the impressive dig numbers as she ranked third in the conference with 4.93 digs per set and 523 total digs. 

Good Things Come in Courtneys

Senior Courtney Darling entrenched her name into the career record book with 2180 assists (3rd) and 979 digs (7th). Senior Courtney Curcio also engraved her name into the Scarlet Hawks record book with 1452 digs (3rd) and 304 assists (9th). Also finding their names in the career record book are sophomore Allison Wilkins (740 assists, 7th) and junior Natalie Freund (657 assists, 8th).

Within Striking Distance

Illinois Tech lost 11 matches that went beyond three sets, which included 3-2 losses to Lake Forest on September 3, Marian (Wis.) on October 1, and Concordia (Wis.) on October 11. 

Special Seniors

Courtney Curcio and Courtney Darling made up the Scarlet Hawks 2019 senior class.

Nail-bitter

The Scarlet Hawks' 3-1 victory over MSOE on October 12 came down to the wire, and helped them earn a head-to-head tiebreaker in the NACC standings.
