Women's Volleyball Falls To Wisconsin Lutheran

Wauwatosa, WI - The Illinois Tech Scarlet Hawk women's volleyball team fell short on Saturday to the Wisconsin Lutheran College Warriors 3-2. The Hawks took the first two sets before the Warriors made a comeback to take the final three sets. The score sheet read 25-22, 25-18, 20-25, 28-26, 16-14. Illinois Tech is now 10-5 overall and 2-2 in the Northern Athletic Collegiate Conference (NACC). 

How It Happened

  • In the set one, 25-22 victory to the Hawks, Illinois Tech led the set from early on. The Warriors kept their attack through the set though, tying the match at 18-18 and then 21-21. The Hawks closed out the set with the final four points to take the victory.

  • Set two started in favor of the Warriors before the Hawks turned the action around. After being tied at 12-12, the Hawks went on a 13-6 run to pick up the 25-18 set victory. 

  • The Hawks only lead in set three came at 2-1. The Warriors were able to stay ahead the rest of the set, although the Hawks were always within reach. Set three ended 20-25 in favor of the Warriors. 

  • Set four saw a battle between the two sides as the Hawks. The battle lasted late into the set as the sides were tied at 26-26 before the Warriors took the final two points for the victory to send the match into the fifth set.

  • In the final set, the Hawks once again led most of the way before the Warriors were able to fight their way back. Unfortunately for the Hawks, they were not able to hang on as the Warriors won the fifth set 16-14 to take the match victory. 

Scarlet Hawk Standouts

  • Briar Moore led the Hawks with 14 kills, recording a .179 kill percentage. Moore finished with 56 total attacks, 2 service aces, and 16 digs. 

  • Stephanie Nguyen finished with 19 digs to lead the Hawks.

  • Jessica Weaver  and Emily Graham both finished with 7 kills. 

Inside the Box Score

  • The Warriors held a 58-48 kills advantage over the Hawks 

  • In digs, the Hawks finished with 71 while the Warriors ended with 73

  • Wisconsin Lutheran had 15 service aces throughout the match compared to Illinois Tech's 9.

After a six match away stint, the Hawks return back to the Keating Center on Tuesday as they welcome the Rockford University Regents. The NACC contest is set for 7:00p.m.
