De Pere, Wis. – The Illinois Tech women's volleyball team's weekend trip to Wisconsin was not what the doctor ordered for the scuffling Scarlet Hawks, as host St. Norbert College downed the Hawks 3-0, leaving the team 0-2 for the weekend.  The Scarlet Hawks dropped to 4-5 in NACC play, and to 12-8 overall. The Green Knights improved to 8-1 in the NACC and to 13-8 overall.

The Scarlet Hawks have now lost three in a row and have dropped into eighth place in the conference – two spots out of a conference tournament post-season berth. They have four conference matches remaining.

How It Happened

St. Norbert 3 – Illinois Tech 0

  • The Scarlet Hawks held an 11-10 lead midway through set one, but a 5-0 run by the Green Knights gave St. Norbert the lead for good. The Hawks made a late bid to tie the set, staving off set-point twice to trail 24-23. But a Brooke Clement kill finished the set in favor of the Green Knights, 25-23.
  • Illinois Tech led early in set two, 4-3, but they would not be able to sustain. A 3-0 run by St. Norbert gave them a 6-4 lead. The Hawks would get no closer than one point, trailing 6-5. St. Norbert would eventually build a six-point lead at 17-11, and finish with a seven-point margin of victory, 25-18.
  • The Scarlet Hawks were tied with St. Norbert midway through the third and final set at 14-14, but the Green Knights turned up the heat, taking 11 of the final 12 points scored in the set for a 25-15 set three victory, and a 3-0 match victory.
