Lexington, KY - The United States Marine Corps and the American Volleyball Coaches Association announced on July 13th that the Illinois Tech Women's Volleyball team earned Team Academic honors for the 2022-23 season.

The award recognizes collegiate and high school volleyball programs that maintain a year-long grade-point average of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale or 4.1 on a 5.0 scale.

"And this is what it is all about" said Head Coach Mark Johnston. "I am so proud of the women's volleyball team for earning the 2023 USMC/AVCA Team Academic award.  We had a 3.46 GPA in the Fall and a 3.64 GPA in the Spring, giving us an overall GPA of 3.56 for the year. Architecture, Applied Physics, Biomedical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Behavioral Health & Wellness, Architectural Engineering, Business, Aerospace Engineering, Forensic Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Information Technology and Management...these were the majors that represented this year's team. For them to be able to manage their course loads, volleyball schedules, clubs, other activities, jobs etc...and still be able to earn these GPA's is outstanding.  Kudos to you team" said Johnston.
