Trio Of Scarlet Hawks Earn NACC Student-Athlete Of The Week Honors

MILWAUKEE, Wis. (naccsports.org) --- A trio of Scarlet Hawks have earned NACC Student-Athlete of the Week honors for week ending 4/17/22.

NACC Baseball Position Player of the Week ~ Connor Blake, Illinois Institute of Technology
Junior Connor Blake, a third baseman, finished the week hitting .600 (9-of-15) with a .647 on-base percentage and a 1.200 slugging percentage as the Scarlet Hawks won two of three games. He had the walk-off game-winning RBI single in the bottom of the 10th inning of IIT's 9-8 win in the second game of a doubleheader against Marian. During the week, Blake belted two doubles, two triples, and a home run while driving in nine runs. He also drew two walks, stole a pair of bases, and scored seven runs while only striking out once.

NACC Men's Tennis Player of the Week  ~ Alann Torres, Illinois Institute of Technology - Junior Alann Torres (San Antonio, Texas) has been named the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) Men's Tennis Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of April 11-17, 2022, as selected by the league's athletic communications professionals. Torres remained undefeated in NACC singles play, moving to 5-0 with a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles over Peter Rios of Concordia University Chicago. He also paired with Nabil Fawaz to top Rios and Scott Engler, 8-0, at No. 1 doubles in the Scarlet Hawks' 7-2 win over CUC.

NACC Men's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week ~ Zane Handy, Illinois Institute of Technology
Junior Zane Handy, a goalie, allowed just four goals while saving 12 of 16 shots in the Scarlet Hawks' 9-4 win over Marian on April 16.
