Two Tech Student-Athletes Earn Weekly DII Independents Honor

OVERLAND PARK, Kan.- The Association of Division III Independents released its Player of the Week awards for the week of August 31-September 8. Two Illinois Institute of Technology student-athletes recieved the honor, as Roxanne Myers (Women's Soccer) and Caitlyn Brunner (Women's Cross Country) each won the award for their respective sports.

Myers, a senior, put together an impressive week for the Scarlet Hawks in goal. She allowed just two goals and stopped 30 shots in the team's three contests, which included a shutout victory over Trine University on Friday. The California native also made 14 saves in the season opener against Benedictine University on Tuesday, September 1. Women's Soocer is 1-2 on the season and competes next on Friday night (7:00 p.m.) at home against Muskingum University.

Brunner, a sophomore opened the season on Friday at the Elmhurst Earlybird Invitational with a strong meet. In a field filled with tough competition, the New Jersey native placed 10th in the 4k race with a time of 16:21.7. Women's Cross Country is back in action on Saturday morning (10:00 a.m.) at the UW-Parkside Midwest Open.
