Walther, Maron Earn DIII Independents Player of the Week

OVERLAND PARK, Kan.- Illinois Institute of Technology athletics has once again earned individual honors. For the week of September 21-28, women's volleyball's Adriane Walther and women's soccer's Ade Maron both earned The Association of Division III Independents Player of the Week awards.

Walther put together a strong weekend at the North/South Battlefield Classic in Berea, Ky. The senior setter tallied 89 assists, 43 digs, 11 blocks, 11 kills, and a .250 hitting percentage over four matches. This included double-doubles of assists and digs twice, totaling 31 and 14 against St. Mary of the Woods and 17 and 15 against Berea. The Scarlet Hawks went 2-2 on the weekend.

Maron put together the strongest statistical week of any Scarlet Hawk women's soccer player this season. The senior midfielder recorded a hat trick of goals and assists last Monday, notching three of each in an 11-0 home victory over Morton College. In Saturday's 2-1 win over Anderson, she scored both goals after the team faced an early 1-0 deficit.

Women's Volleyball and Women's Soccer are both in action tonight on the road. Volleyball competes at Rockford University, while soccer heads to Augustana College. Both matches are set for 7:00 p.m.
