Tech Drops Game at Home

Chicago, Ill. – Illinois Tech baseball dropped a single game to Rockford College at home on Tuesday night 9-2. The windy conditions were a factor all day for both teams but Rockford was able to sway with the gusts as Tech did not. This takes the season record for the Hawks to 17-5.

James Tarala was the pitcher of record for IIT and the loss takes his overall record to (3-1).  During his 2.0 innings of work he gave up 4 hits, 5 runs (4 earned) with 1 strikeout and 1 walk. Cory Winiecki came in from the bullpen to go 5.0 innings, allowing 5 hits, 4 runs (3 earned) with 2 walks and 7 strikeouts. Jan Timpe finished the final 2.0 innings after an arm injury had kept him out of a game since the spring trip. Timpe allowed 1 hit, no runs with 1 walk and 1 strikeout.

William Cronin had 2 singles on the day, a run batted in, and a run scored. Michael Malfeo, Alex Babusci and Darwin Argumedo all added doubles in the game, while Babusci drove in a run. Kyle Bumpass had two singles in the game and scored the other IIT run in the 9th inning.

Tech is right back at it tomorrow with 2 games in Madison, Wisc. Against Edgewood College.
