No. 11 Spartans Too Much For Scarlet Hawks

LISLE, ILL.—The Illinois Institute of Technology baseball team faced top-seeded No. 11 Aurora University on day two of the 2021 NACC Baseball South Division Tournament at Benedictine's (Ill.) Sports Complex in Lisle, Illinois on Saturday. The Scarlet Hawks couldn't string enough hits together in a 13-2 (7 Innings) loss to the Spartans. Benedictine (Ill.) will await Illinois Tech tomorrow, Sunday, May 16 at 2:00 p.m. The winner will face Aurora University in the NACC Baseball South Division Championship later that day at 5:30 p.m.

Illinois Tech falls to 19-9 while Aurora improves to 34-6. 

Aurora 13, Illinois Tech 2 (7 Innings)

The Spartans surged to a 10-0 advantage in the sixth inning before Illinois Tech registered two runs of their own. Nick Bledsoe did the honors with a bases-loaded single in the sixth inning that scored Jacob Sorenson and Claudio LoBraico to make the score 10-2. The Spartans closed the game's scoring with a three-run seventh inning that put the game to bed at 13-2 via the 10-run mercy rule.

Michael Courtney and Matthew Jackson each collected two hits for the Illinois Tech offense. Ian Duke threw the first five innings on the pitching mound for Illinois Tech before Chris Harrison and Luke Leonard each tallied one inning of service.
