CHICAGO, Ill.- It was a successful week for Illinois Institute of Technology Cross Country, as both a men's and women's runner earned Player of the Week honors from the USCAA. Samuel Wiestlispach and Brooke Bell both received the recognition after strong showings at the Benedictine University Invitational on Friday,
A seinor, Wiestlispach had arguably the strongest meet of any Tech runner this season. He placed ninth in the large field with a season and career best time of 26:38.7 in the 8k race. It marked the first time a Tech runner placed in the Top 10 this season.
Bell, a Canada native, was also impressive for the women's squad. She placed 63rd in the 6k with a 26:38.6 time, leading all Scarlet Hawk runners.
Illinois Tech cross country competes next on Saturday in the UW-Oshkosh Invitational. The women will begin at noon before the men race at 12:45 p.m.
