Tech Falls to Anderson in High Scoring Affair

CHICAGO, Ill.- The Illinois Institute of Technology men's basketball team hosted unbeaten Anderson University (Ind.) on Tuesday night to open up the 2015-16 home schedule. Tech stayed close for most of the contest, but a late charge from the Ravens gave the visitors an 88-80 win.

How it Happened

  • Anderson took an early 10-4 lead, but the Scarlet Hawks scored 16 of the next 21 points to take a 20-15 advantage with 11:02 left in the first half. The stretch was highlighted by two three-point field goals from Jake Bruns.
  • Anderson eventually re-took the lead with 6:28 left. The teams would exchange the advantage a few times before the Ravens held a 37-33 halftime lead.
  • Tech took a few one-point leads early in the second half before Anderson took control. Using the three-point line, the Ravens charged forward to take a 17 point lead as late as 3:00 left in the half at 79-72. Anderson made six three-pointers over this stretch of play.
  • Illinois Tech would use a full-court press to cut the lead to single-digits down the stretch, but ultimatley ran out of time as the Ravens held on for an 88-80 win.

Scarlet Hawk Standouts

  • Anthony Mosley Jr. shot just 5-of-13 from the floor, but he went to the free throw line 19 times (16 in the second half) and hit 16 of them. He finished with 27 points and eight rebounds.
  • Samuel Rarick poured in 25 points on 9-of-17 shooting. He also tallied eight rebounds.
  • Jake Digiorgio added 11 points and continued his high rebound rate with a game-high 18 boards.
  • Bruns added eight points off the bench.

Anderson Notes

  • Cole Hartman led the Ravens in both points (19) and rebounds (12).

  • Tech held Anderson to below 100 points for the first time this season.
  • Tech assisted on just three made baskets compared to 10 for the Ravens.
  • Anderson's bench outscored Illinois Tech's 24-10.
