Men's Basketball Falls at Lake Forest

LAKE FOREST, Ill.- The Illinois Institute of Technology men's basketball team competed at Lake Forest College on Saturday evening, falling to the Foresters 92-68.

How It Happened

  • The Scarlet Hawks struggled from close range early, missing some early looks and allowing Lake Forest to build an 18-12 advantage. However, Tech responded with a 9-0 run to take a 21-18 lead, forcing Lake Forest to take a timeout at the 9:55 mark. 
  • A few baskets from Ryan Barnes (team-high eight first half points) kept Tech ahead until two straight runouts gave the Foresters a 28-25 lead with 4:14 left in the first half.
  • The three point advantage held for the Foresters at halftime (36-33).
  • The Foresters went on an impressive run to start the second half, building a 12-point lead at 55-43 with 13:25 left to force a Tech timeout.
  • Lake Forest continued to ride its run after the timeout, using a three-point barrage (7-of-12 from downtown) to build a lead that reached as high as 25.
  • Tech put on some full-court pressure to cut the deficit, but Lake Forest held on for the 92-68 win.

Scarlet Hawk Standouts

  • Samuel Rarick led the Scarlet Hawks in scoring and rebounding, tallying 13 points and eight boards. The junior also took two charges.
  • Barnes continued his strong play off the bench, scoring ten points in 16 minutes. Anthony Mosley Jr. also scored 10 bench points.
  • Jake Digiorgio added 12 points and five rebounds.
  • Parker Joncus and Jason Morris each added nine points.

Stats to Know

  • Lake Forest's first half advantage came in large part due to rebounding, as the Foresters held a 24-15 edge on the glass (10-2 offensive). The Foresters held a 47-30 advantage for the game.
  • The Foresters were 9-for-23 (39.1%) for the game, while Illinois Tech was 5-for-15 (33.3%).
