Mosley Jr. Ties Season-High in Loss

CHICAGO, Ill. - The Illinois Institute of Technology men's basketball team squared off against Maranatha Baptist University at home on Thursday night. Despite Anthony Mosley Jr. tying his season high in points, Tech fell 77-61.

How it Happened

  • Tech and MBU were even early until the Sabercats' 2-3 zone began to stifle the Hawk offense. After jumping out to a 10-4 lead, Tech managed just 12 points in the half's final 15 minutes.
  • Maranatha was effective, shooting 4-of-9 from downtown and 14-of-29 from the field in the first half to build a 37-22 halftime lead.
  • Zach Terpstra scored the first seven points of the second half for the Sabercats, but Mosley Jr. and Parker Joncus. The play of those two vaulted Tech back into the contest, cutting the lead to eight at 60-52 with 7:07 left to play.
  • Maranatha quickly took momentum back, however, as Micah Shepard scored five quick points to spark a 9-1 Sabercat run.
  • Maranatha held on the rest of the way en route to the 77-61 win.

Scarlet Hawk Standouts

  • Mosley Jr. tallied 27 points to lead all scorers. He also added four rebounds and team-highs in assists (five) and steals (six). His six steals were a season high.
  • Ryan Barnes added six points and a team-high eight boards.

Maranatha Mentions

  • Wes Wagner led the Sabercats with 18 points off the bench on perfect 8-of-8 shooting.

Stats to Know

  • Tech attempted 21 more shots than the Sabercats, but shot just 29.9% from the floor.
  • Tech won the turnover battle 22-11.
  • Maranatha shot 57.1% from the floor.
