Scarlet Hawks Capture First Win of 2019-20 in 69-39 Drubbing of MSOE

CHICAGO-The win column remained empty for the Illinois Institute of Technology men's basketball team through their first five games of 2019-20. A pair of double-doubles from Max Hisatake and Milos Dugalic dodged the monkey off IIT's back as they cruised to a 69-39 victory over MSOE in a Saturday-afternoon affair at the Keating Sports Center.

Max Hisatake's 19 points and 12 boards gave him his fourth double-double of the season, and that much closer to 1,000 career points as he owns 965 after Saturday. Milos Dugalic added 16 points and 12 rebounds for the Scarlet Hawks while Miles Curry rounded out the double-figure scorers with 15. MSOE was no match as they were held to just 15-of-57 (.263) shooting, and no players in double figures.

IIT's first win of the season gives them a 1-5, 1-2 NACC mark while MSOE drops to 3-5, 1-3 NACC.

The IIT defense came out of the gates, holding MSOE to just a pair of field goals over the opening 11:11 of play en route to a 23-5 advantage with 9:47 left in the opening frame. MSOE weathered the storm from that point through the end of the first half as each squad kept trading blows. IIT held a slight 17-15 edge to close the first half where they went into the second half with a 40-20 lead.

It proved to be enough cushion as MSOE shot a dismal 6-of-28 (.214) from the field over the final 20:00 of play, where IIT cruised to a 69-39 victory.

The Scarlet Hawks will return to action on Wednesday, December 11 at Dominican University for a 7:00 p.m. tip-off. The game was originally scheduled for Wednesday, December 4 after a broken rim forced a postponement.
