Santa Cruz, California- Illinois Tech men's soccer won the first game of their California trip 3-2 over Cabrillo College and then dropped a tough game to University of California Santa Cruz 2-0 in the second game.
In game 1, Illinois Tech utilized second half goals by Hugo Hernandez and Tyler Haag to complete the 3-2 win. Illinois Tech was down 2-1 at the half and dominated the second half with an 8-1 shot advantage. Brahadon Ramirez opened the scoring for Tech with a blast in the 29th minute. The win improved the Scarlet Hawks record to 8-2-1.
In game 2, Illinois Tech dropped a hard fought game 2-0 to UC Santa Cruz. The game was physical with 39 fouls and 7 cards assessed on the day. UCSC outshot Illinois Tech 12-10. The loss drops the Hawks record to 8-3-1.
Illinois Tech is currently ranked #4 in the latest USCAA National Ranking. The Scarlet Hawks host Ripon College this Saturday, October 18th at 3:30 pm CST and then host Robert Morris Springfield on Sunday at 1 pm CST.
