Illinois Tech Men's Soccer Win 5-1 Over Ripon College

 

Chicago, IL. - The Illinois Tech Men's Soccer team won a decisive 5-1 game over visiting Ripon College on Saturday.

Freshman Rogelio Salcedo led the way with two first half goals. Despite a decided advantage in the first half in shots and run of play, IIT were only up 2-1 at the break after a defensive miscue lead to a goal for Ripon with 16 seconds left. 

Inigo Palazon de Pino converted a penalty kick in the 54th minute to put the game away at 3-1. Hugo Hernandez would add a goal off a great assist from Gus Alvarez in the 69th minute. Hernandez would set up sophomore Tommy Gasienica with a tally in the 73rd minute to make it 5-1 and complete the scoring.

Illinois Tech outshot the visitors 20-4 with an 8-0 advantage in corners. EJ Yang went the distance in goal.

The Scarlet Hawks are now 9-3-1 on the season. They host Robert Morris University Springfield on Sunday, October 19th at 1 pm.
