5th Ranked Illinois Tech Men’s Soccer Beats Moody Bible 3-1

 

Chicago, IL.-The Illinois Tech men's soccer team put on a show in a 10 minute segment of the first half with 3 goals. Tyler Haag opened the scoring in the 30th minute off a deft pass from Nathan McMahon. Haag would score again in the 36th minute on a great solo effort.

The Scarlet Hawks would tally a third goal in the 39th minute on a Hugo Hernandez goal assisted by Ricardo Gonzalez. Tech fired off 11 shots with 6 on goal in the first half while holding Moody to 3 shots with none on goal.

The second half was intense as Moody Bible picked up the pressure and they were rewarded with a goal in the 52nd minute by Jacob Persson. Tech would hold on for the 3-1 win over the 2013 NCCAA Division II National Champions.

EJ Yang made 3 strong saves in the 2nd half to preserve the victory.

Illinois Tech is now 11-3-1 and is currently ranked 5th in the USCAA National Ranking. IIT plays next at Carthage College on Tuesday, October 28th at 7pm.
