Scarlet Hawks Seniors Guide Team to Victory on Saturday

Chicago, IL. - The Illinois Tech Men's Soccer team won a convincing 9-0 game over visiting Lincoln Christian University on Saturday. Fittingly it was the seniors that lead the charge in their last home game on Stuart Field.

Senior goalkeeper EJ Yang collected his 6th shutout of the season. Senior Gus Alvarez had a goal and assist while fellow senior Brahadon Ramirez added a goal. Senior captain Rex Meier manned the back line which held LCU to 3 shots. Senior midfielder Nate McMahon played limited minutes as IIT prepares to depart for Nationals in Charleston, West Virginia this week.

Junior forward Tyler Haag tallied a hat trick and also assisted on a great goal by Bart Grabowski. Freshman Rafal Walus scored his first collegiate goal from a header on a cross from Alvarez. Pablo Solis and Emmanuel Zambrano added goals in the victory.

The win improved the home record to 9-1 this season which tied the school record for home wins in season with the 2008-09 team that finished 9-2-1 at Stuart Field.

The Scarlet Hawks have qualified for the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) National Tournament held in Charleston, West Virginia from November 4-9. The Scarlet Hawks finished the regular season 12-4-1 and received the 5th seed and a first round bye.

Illinois Tech takes on Concordia College from Selma, Alabama on Thursday, November 6th at 12 pm EST at Schoenbaum Stadium. The Hornets are ranked 4th in the nation and finished 12-4.
