Men’s Soccer Downs Wentworth Military

CHICAGO, Ill.- The Illinois Institute of Technology men's soccer team (5-4-1) hosted Wentworth Military Academy at Stuart Field on Sunday afternoon. Illinois Tech earned a 4-0 victory.

How it Happened

  • Despite dominating possession for the first 40 minutes and holding the Red Dragons scoreless, Illinois Tech was kept out of the net. Things changed in the 43rd minute, as Noah Griffith notched his first goal of the day unassisted.
  • Just after halftime, the Scarlet Hawks added a goal off a corner kick from Sergio Calvo de Leon in the 47th minute.
  • In the 60th minute, the Hawks scored off of a set piece, as Calvo de Leon found Griffith in front of the net for a header goal.
  • The Hawks scored once again in the 68th minute, as Emmanuel Zambrano set up Julio Reyes for a header on a nice cross.

  • Griffith attempted six shots (three on goals), scoring twice. 
  • Calvo de Leon scored once on four shots (two on goal) and notched an assist.
  • Bart Grabowski attempted a team-high seven shots.
