Men's Soccer Downs Ripon in Double-Overtime

RIPON, Wis.- Illinois Institute of Technology men's soccer climbed back to .500 on Saturday at 7-7-1 with a wild double-overtime victory. Tech defeated Ripon College on the road 3-2.

How it Happened

  • It took just 23 seconds for Illinois Tech and Lucas Niehuns Antunes to get on the scoreboard. The Brazilian scored an unassisted goal in the upper right corner of the net to take a 1-0 lead.
  • Ripon would respond with two straight goals, scoring in the 5th minute and then in the 56th minute to take a 2-1 lead early in the second half.
  • Just three minutes after Ripon took a lead, Niehuns Antunes found the net once again. Lucas scored on a 1-on-1 off an assist from Noah Griffith to tie things up at 2-2.
  • Things were quiet over the next 40 minutes, remaining tied through regulation and the first overtime. Emmanuel Zambrano changed that 1:47 into the second overtime, scoring off of a Sergio Calvo de Leon free kick to win the match for the Scarlet Hawks.
