CHICAGO, Ill. - On a sun-splashed men's soccer Senior Day at Stuart Field, it was only fitting three seniors were involved in the opening score of the Scarlet Hawks 5-0 victory over Edgewood Saturday afternoon. The Hawks improved to 6-9-1 overall (2-6-1 NACC). The Eagles fell to 0-12-0 (0-9-0 NACC).
How It Happened
- The Hawks opened the scoring in the 8th minute when senior Ryan Fagan banged home a rebound off a shot from senior Conner Shaw for his second of the season. The play was set up by a pass into the zone from fellow senior Kristjan Gudmundsson.
- With just 45 seconds remaining in the first half, the Hawks connected again when Mateo Sanchez was able to corral a throw in from the far side from Keegan Helms for his fourth goal of the season.
- Six minutes into the second half, the Michael Kaczowka show took center stage as Kaczowka took a crossing from Conner Shaw for his sixth goal of the 2021 campaign. Shaw was freed up on a nice through ball from Anthony Paiotti.
- Less than three minutes later, Helms created space from a defender on the far side, and lofted a pass into the box that Kaczowka headed in for his second goal of the half and seventh of the season.
- Two minutes later, Kaczowka was at it again when Shaswat Thapa fed Paiotti to the right of goal, and Paiotti immediately fed Kaczowka in the box for a spectacular spin and back heel goal to complete the hat trick and cap the scoring.
