The Illinois Tech Swimming and Diving started their season off with a pair of victories as the team travelled to Beloit, WI for their first competition. The Scarlet Hawk women defeated Beloit College 103-77 and Knox College 101-79. The Men topped Beloit 123-59 and Knox 132-55.
The freshmen talent was on display as Ava Obenaus, Brigitte Temple and Briana Tyler all picked up individual victories. Obenaus opened up the meet with a victory in the 1000 Free with a time of 12:31.83. Tyler won the 100 Butterfly in 1:06.54 with teammate Haley Slator as the runner-up with a time of 1:09.45. Temple won both the 200 Individual Medley (2:21.72) and 500 Free (5:39.76).
The Hawks won 9 of 11 events. Freshmen Luke Workman and Jay Korhonen each picked up victories in the 200 Free (1:52.84) and 200 IM (2:02.56) respectively. Junior Kevin Boldt had a pair of victories in the 1000 Free (10:36.47) and 500 Free (5:12.07). Tanner Grieve also finished the day with a first-place finish in the 100 Butterfly in a time of 56.20, and a second-place finish in the 50 Free with a time of 23.30. Senior Ray Mohaimani also tallied a victory in the 100 Backstroke with a winning time of 58.53.The Scarlet Hawks are set to host North Central College on Friday, November 7th at Ekco Pool. The meet begins at 6:30pm. Guests are encouraged to bring toothpaste to the meet to be donated to the St. James' Food Pantry.
