Tech Dominates North Central, Comes Up Short Against Carthage

Chicago, Illinois - The Illinois Tech Men are off to a 4-1 start as they swam to victory on Friday against North Central College. The men touched first in every scored race on Friday evening and put together a strong showing in the first home meet of the season.

Led by Seniors Billy Bafia and Ray Mohaimani, the men began the meet with victories in the 400 Medley Relay (3:50.26), 1650 Freestyle (Kevin Boldt, 17:31.88),  200 Freestyle (Connor McGuire, 1:56.73) and 50 Freestyle (Billy Bafia, 22.80). The Hawks coasted to a 85-19 victory.

Saturday was a bit more challenging for the Scarlet  Hawks as they took on Carthage College and Illinois Wesleyan in Bloomington, IL.  Jay Korhonen led the team with individual wins in the 500 Freestyle (4:58.92) and 200 Individual Medley (2:00.83). Ray Mohaimani swam to a second place finish in the 200 Backstroke with a time of 2:05.18.

Next up for Illinois Tech are the Coe College Kohawks. Coe comes to Chicago on Saturday, November 15. The meet begins at 1pm at Ekco Pool.
