Illinois Tech Has Strong Showing at Wheaton Invite

The Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving teams closed out their final regular season meet against Wheaton College and North Central College with impressive swims and second place overall finishes on both sides.  On the men's side of the meet, Wheaton College won the meet with 185 points, Illinois Tech finished in second place with 155 points, and North Central College finished third with 12 points.

Freshman Jay Korhonen led the way yet again with solid victories in the 200 Individual Medley (2:00.67) and the 200 Breaststroke (2:15.89).  Ray Mohaimani also had an individual win in the 100 Backstroke with a time of 57.00. Other first place finishes included Billy Bafia in the 100 Breaststroke (1:02.10) and Michael Dobben in the 1000 Freestyle (10:57.06). The men concluded the meet with an impressive sweep of the 200 Freestyle Relay with the team of Tanner Grieve, Luke Workman, Mohaimani and Bafi winning the race (1:31.33) and the team of Connor McGuire, Matthew Williams, Ben Callan and and Kevin Boldt finishing in the runner-up spot (1:37.27).

The meet marked the last competition before the Scarlet Hawks head to Cedar Rapids, IA to compete in the Liberal Arts Conference Championship meet hosted by Coe College. The meet begins on Thursday, February 12 and runs through Saturday, February 14.
