Scarlet Hawks Show Promise on Day Two of Chicago Fall Phoenix Classic

CHICAGO—Day two of the University of Chicago Fall Phoenix Classic was upon the Illinois Institute of Technology men's swimming & diving squad on Saturday at the Myers-McLoraine Pool.

Kanoa Sawai highlighted the Scarlet Hawks on Saturday with a fifth-place mark of 1:52.05 in the 200 yard butterfly. The 500 yard freestyle saw Seth Wissenbach claim seventh place with a 4:46.67, followed by Mark Klinchin's ninth-place mark of 4:49.67. Samuel Kastan also claimed a seventh-place time when he crossed the finish line at 59.39 in the 100 yard breaststroke. 

The 200 yard medley relay squad of Matthew Randle, Samuel Kastan, Kanoa Sawai and Guanghao Ou kept the seventh-place train rolling with a 1:35.43. Eric Zhang rounds out the notable finishes with a 1:55.57 in the 200 yard backstroke, good enough for 10th place. 

The Scarlet Hawks, who sit in fifth place through two days with 330 points, will embark on day three of the University of Chicago Fall Phoenix Classic tomorrow, Sunday, November 24 at 10:00 a.m. / 5:00 p.m.
