Hawks Compete at Iliana Invitational

The Scarlet Hawk Track & Field athletes competed at the Iliana Invitational on Friday, January 16th, hosted by Lewis University. "It was a quick turnaround for us after the season opener last week but early meets like this one will help us get into form" said Assistant Coach Lewis Brown.

Competing in the 3.000m race, Sara Glade crossed the finish line in 4th place, improving her personal best time in the event by almost 10 seconds.

Taylor Schaub continued her good season with a 5th place in the High Jump and Greta Zola turned in another top finish for the Scarlet Hawks in the 1000m.

Samuel Wietliespach recorded the highest finish for the Hawks at the Illiana Invitational, with a 2nd place in the 3.000m run. "Sam's good form from the Cross Country season is showing on the track too and I'm looking forward to seeing him get the rewards after all the hard work he's putting in" noted Head Coach Calin Hantau.

Joseph Yassin had a busy meet, competing in the Weight Throw and Shot Put and making the final in both. Yassin improved his best marks from the opening meet, inching to his career best marks.

"I know we are heading into the right direction. We got a good feel of where we are right now after competing twice in the last week and really looking forward for the next 3 weeks of practice until our next scheduled meet" said Hantau.

The Track & Field athletes will be idle for the next 2 weekends before travelling to University of Chicago for the Windy City Invitational, scheduled for February 7th.
