Joseph Yassin Impressive at Windy City Invitational Setting New School Record

The Scarlet Hawks Track & Field Teams travelled to Hyde Park on Saturday, February 7th for the "Windy City Rumble", hosted by University of Chicago. "We were coming into this meet after taking 2 weeks off from competing and I think the work that our athletes have put in is really paying off" said Head Coach Calin Hantau.

The highlight of the day was Joe Yassin's 3rd place finish in the Shot Put. His toss, 14.25 meters is a new school record, improving his best mark from last year. "Joe improved his best mark from last year with almost 50 centimeters, which is really impressive. During this meet he had 3 other throws that bested last year record and that shows his consistency" noted Hantau.

Teva Venet opened his indoor campaign with 6th and 7th place efforts in the Long and Triple Jump. "Teva was sidelined by flu over the past weeks and he might still be behind with his fitness. It was good to have him out jumping and he should be back to his form soon", said Assistant Coach Kristina Jones.

The Track & Field teams will split for the next meet, the Chicagoland Championships, since the competition is scheduled on two different days, separate for men and women. North Central College will serve as the host for the event, scheduled for 13th and 14th of February.
