Many PR’s Set for Men’s Track and Field at CUC

RIVER FOREST, Ill. – The Illinois Tech men's track and field team competed at the Concordia University Chicago Cougar Invitational on Saturday. With a limited team competing, the Scarlet Hawks placed 20th.

Meet Highlights

  • Cole Dammeier set a personal record in the 5000m, placing second with a time of 15:57.85. 
  • David Polzin set PR's in the 200m (22nd place, 23.31s) and long jump (16th, 6.17m). He was also strong in the 400m at 52.33s, good for 16th place.
  • Demis Thomas was strong in the 200m, placing 32nd at 23.86s. He also placed 21st in the 400m with a time of 53.46s
  • Saisaketh Valluri set a PR in the triple jump at 11.60m.

Quote of the Meet

  • "The season has been extremely successful with improvements across the board," said Head Coach Keith Burke. "We are looking to break several school records in the next few weeks as we travel to the Gina Relays and the last chance meets. Exciting things are happening with our program as we move to the end of 2016 and look forward to the future."

  • The Scarlet Hawks will compete in a tough Gina Relays meet on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday next week at Hillsdale College in Hillsdale, Michigan. The events will begin at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, 8:00 a.m. on Friday, and 9:00 a.m. on Saturday (all times listed as central).
