HILLSDALE, Mich. - The Illinois Tech men's track and field team opened up the Gina Relays at Hillsdale College on Thursday.

The team's only competitior on the first day of the three-day meet was freshman Cole Dammeier in the 5000m. Dammeier was strong, finishing 48th place out of 94 competitors. His time was 15:52.28: a personal record. His field featured several NCAA Division I and II runners.
