Scarlet Hawks Show Promise in First Outdoor Meet Since 2018-19

RESULTS

MILWAUKEE, WIS.—The Illinois Institute of Technology men's track & field team embarked on outdoor competition for the first time since the 2018-19 season on Saturday when they participated in the Wisconsin Lutheran College Invite. The Scarlet Hawks took 13th place out of 14 teams with seven points. NCAA Division I Marquette University notched the men's team title with 128 points.

Evan Balizado highlighted the Scarlet Hawks men as he claimed fifth place out of 23 participants in the 800 meter run with a time of 1:59.59. 

Six Scarlet Hawks competed in the 200 meter dash, where Christian Allen led the flock with an 18th-place time of 25.04. Not far behind was Jacob Gagner (25.10) and Dillon Rattray-Mattis (25.11), who notched 20th and 21st place, respectively. 

Robert Mathis turned in a phenomenal day in the 400 meter dash with a 10th-place time of 54.09.

The 1500 meter run saw Louis Ketchman notch a ninth-place time of 4:32.66, while Julian Go was effective in the 5000 meter run with a 17:11.84, good enough for eighth place. Ketchman, Balizado, Dhom and Go teamed up for a 3:43.31 in the 4x400 meter relay, which secured them eighth place. 

Illinois Tech will compete in the Wisconsin Lutheran Green & White Invite on Saturday, April 24 at 10:00 a.m.
